Boca Raton Morning Briefing · Sat, 03 Oct 2026 21:30:18 GMT · 4:39

Maya: Good morning, Boca Raton, and happy Saturday. It's October third, twenty twenty-six, and this is your Boca Raton Morning Briefing.
Devon: I'm Devon.
Maya: And I'm Maya. Coming up: your week-ahead weather, a check on the water, what's up in tonight's sky, plenty going on around town this weekend, and three local stories you should know.
Devon: Let's start with the weather, because the week ahead has a real split personality.
Maya: It does. Today, Saturday, expect a high of eighty-six and a low of seventy-seven, with about a twenty-seven percent chance of rain. Winds could gust up to twenty miles per hour, so it might feel a little blustery at the beach.
Devon: Sunday looks like the pick of the weekend: high of eighty-five, low of seventy-eight, only an eleven percent chance of rain, and light winds around nine miles per hour.
Maya: Monday stays warm at eighty-seven, with a thirty-seven percent chance of showers. Then the rain chances really climb. Tuesday: high of eighty-seven, seventy-three percent chance of rain. Wednesday is the wettest day of the week — high of ninety, eighty-six percent chance of rain.
Devon: So the first half of the week is the time to get outside, and by midweek you'll want the umbrella handy.
Maya: Thursday stays soggy with a seventy-seven percent chance of rain and a high of eighty-nine, and Friday dries out a bit — high of eighty-seven, forty-seven percent chance. Lows all week stay in the upper seventies to low eighties, so no relief from the warmth overnight.
Devon: Out on the water: waves are running about three feet today, easing to under two feet by Monday. And the ocean is sitting at eighty-six degrees — basically bathwater.
Maya: Now, the night skies. Sunset tonight is at seven-oh-four, and it's properly dark by eight twenty-one.
Devon: The moon is in its last quarter, about forty-six percent lit, and it doesn't rise until one-oh-three in the morning. So the evening sky is moonless — which is actually great for stargazing.
Maya: Saturn is up in the east after dark, about thirty-seven degrees above the horizon. And here's a fun one: the International Space Station makes a pass tonight at seven twenty-eight, low in the south. Look for a bright, steady light gliding across the sky — no blinking, that's how you know it's the station and not a plane.
Devon: Plenty going on around town today. First up: Passport to Pours is at the Mizner Park Amphitheater starting at four this afternoon — a global tasting adventure with signature pours and bites from twelve country-inspired destinations, plus live music.
Maya: Football fans: the Florida Atlantic Owls host Texas Southern at Flagler Credit Union Stadium at six tonight.
Devon: For live music, smooth jazz saxophonist Kim Waters plays The Funky Biscuit at six this evening. And comedian Karen Rontowski is at The Studio at Mizner Park at seven-thirty.
Maya: Looking ahead: The Long Run, the Eagles tribute band, plays The Funky Biscuit next Friday, October ninth. And mark your calendar for October seventeenth — Company B brings the eighties dance hits to the Olympic Heights Performing Arts Theater.
Devon: Now to the local news. First: Boca Raton is about to get what developers say will be Florida's largest indoor pickleball and padel facility.
Maya: Boca Paddle by CityPickle opens November eighteenth — a hundred-thousand-square-foot, twenty-million-dollar racket club with twenty-five courts, including sixteen climate-controlled indoor courts and a thousand-seat stadium court, plus a full-service bar and restaurant.
Devon: Co-founder Brian Levine called Boca Raton, quote, "the pickleball capital of the world," noting the city is home to seven of the world's top-ranked players. Hard-hat tours of the facility start October seventh, and it's going up at West Jeffrey Street and North Dixie Highway.
Maya: Second story: a beloved New York café is coming to Glades Road. Maman, the French-inspired café chain, opens its newest South Florida location Tuesday, October sixth, at Shadowood Square on Glades Road.
Devon: For the grand opening, the first hundred customers get a free chocolate chip cookie and a Maman tote bag with purchase. There'll also be pop-ups from local shops through the afternoon. It's the chain's second spot in Palm Beach County.
Maya: And third, a serious story out of the federal courthouse. Darryl Kogan, a longtime Boca Raton personal injury lawyer, has been charged in federal court with attempting to view child sexual abuse images.
Devon: According to the Palm Beach Post, prosecutors say Kogan tried to access the images in February while in Broward County. He appeared in federal court in Fort Lauderdale Friday morning, where a judge set bail at two hundred fifty thousand dollars and ordered him to surrender his passport.
Maya: If convicted, he faces between five and twenty years in prison. Kogan co-founded the firm Kogan and DiSalvo in nineteen ninety-four and retired earlier this year.
Devon: That's your briefing for this Saturday, Boca Raton. Get out and enjoy the sunshine while it's here — the rain rolls in by midweek.
Maya: We'll be back tomorrow morning at five with a fresh briefing. Have a great Saturday.
